NY Portfolio Review

I just came back from NY where we had a Portfolio Review. Creatives and recruiters took hours of their busy days to look at our work. It was great! Hopefully something even greater will come out of it like drum-roll pa pa pa pa a visa!!!! In the meantime, I'm still "pending."

(That's Megan and I. We're incredibly excited to show our amazing portfolios!)

Everything has been so hectic lately!

I haven't been posting for mainly 2 reasons:

1) everything in my life right now is CRAZY!! I haven't slept in days trying to get everything done for graduation.
2) I haven't received any news from the government.

I'm starting to get antsy but from what I hear some people get it right away and others have to wait a couple of months. With that said, I'm thinking patience is definitely a virtue.

More mail, more wait...

Today I received  more mail from the government. This time it wasn't as nerve-wracking or exciting as before. The letter just said that they have received my application and that they will be reviewing it. They still need to let me know if I get approved or not. Basically that was a waste of my emotions!

You may wonder, why?

Why do I want to stay in the US so badly?

Well, among my love for the system and the commodities that the US offers, there's my country's situation. If you're a savvy news reader you may already be aware of this. For those who don't, we basically have the worst president any country could ever ask for, except Zimbabwe. Ok, other ones too.

There's a great blog that follows Venezuelan politics and explains it in a way that everybody can understand. They even have a beginner's guide! Click here for it.

The president, Chavez, has turned our country into a circus were each day something ridiculous and unexpected happens. For the youth of the country it's very difficult to strive professionally, especially in the area where I want to work (Graphic Design, the creative industry in general).  Since I'm about to start on this professional venture, I believe staying in this country is the smartest thing to do right now. I will stay in this country!

Everything seems to go according to plan!

So far, everything seems fine. I'm just waiting for the government to send me my employment authorization card. That should take care of the next 6 months...
