More mail, more wait...

Today I received  more mail from the government. This time it wasn't as nerve-wracking or exciting as before. The letter just said that they have received my application and that they will be reviewing it. They still need to let me know if I get approved or not. Basically that was a waste of my emotions!

You may wonder, why?

Why do I want to stay in the US so badly?

Well, among my love for the system and the commodities that the US offers, there's my country's situation. If you're a savvy news reader you may already be aware of this. For those who don't, we basically have the worst president any country could ever ask for, except Zimbabwe. Ok, other ones too.

There's a great blog that follows Venezuelan politics and explains it in a way that everybody can understand. They even have a beginner's guide! Click here for it.

The president, Chavez, has turned our country into a circus were each day something ridiculous and unexpected happens. For the youth of the country it's very difficult to strive professionally, especially in the area where I want to work (Graphic Design, the creative industry in general).  Since I'm about to start on this professional venture, I believe staying in this country is the smartest thing to do right now. I will stay in this country!

Everything seems to go according to plan!

So far, everything seems fine. I'm just waiting for the government to send me my employment authorization card. That should take care of the next 6 months...

Graduating Foreign Kids

Pictured here, the rest of the foreigners who are also applying for the OPT extension of the visa, notice how excited we are to go through the process. Thanks September 11 bastards!

Terrible News!

Earlier today, I checked my mail and I found some returned forms of my OPT application. Needless to say that I was horrified!! After further research turns out we had to send some forms to one office and the others to another one. We we're completely misinformed at school, apparently this rule changed a month ago. I'm hoping this doesn't affect the application process, let's just call this a "minor setback."

I filed for an extension of my visa

Earlier today, I filed for an extension of my student visa (OPT). If the government approves it I will be granted permission to work for 6 months, yes! I had to run lots of annoying errands but it's all worthwhile.

Student Visas bla bla bla

I currently have a student visa
(pictured, in case you aren't familiar with these)
The countdown as to when this visa expires begins now------44 days!

The mission to get a visa begins!

Almost 2 years have passed since I started Miami Ad School and now that dreaded time has come. The 8th quarter, the last quarter, the one we graduate from.
What does that mean you may ask? Well we have to get our work ready to show it to the world! Stressful times I tell you.
All this is a small introduction to the main point of why this blog comes to life. Thing is I'm from Venezuela, both my parents are Venezuelan, I was born in Venezuela, which means that a need a visa if I want to stay in this country.
This blog will document the very important, stressful and strenuous mission to get a visa to stay in the United States of America!
